ABOUT IJRCS
| |
The International Journal of Research in Choral Singing is a publication of the Consortium for
Choral Research, an international research interest group comprised of scholars who are both
established researchers and active choral musicians. In addition to this journal, the Consortium
maintains the choralresearch.org web site and hosts occasional conferences for the advancement of
scholarly dialogue and research in choir studies.
Articles published in IJRCS are reports of refereed research that advance knowledge and practice
with respect to choral singing, choir sound, choral pedagogy, and related areas. Work that applies
rigorous, systematically-grounded methodologies to investigate phenomena potentially important to all
who sing in, work with, or are otherwise interested in choral ensembles is
particularly appropriate. The intention is to aim beyond both an anecdotal "this works for me"
approach to choral singing and an "art object" approach that concentrates exclusively on choral
scores and composers.
Because IJRCS is an electronic journal, research may be published in a timely manner without awaiting
arbitrary publication dates.
An electronic format also allows the journal to present material in a more
comprehensive format than is typically available with traditional print media. Interactive
materials can be linked from the body of a manuscript, and appropriate sound and/or video files
that support or illustrate research can be included.
IJRCS Article Citations: Like most scholarly journals, IJRCS employs volume, issue, and page
numbers. Due to its particular .pdf format, contents cannot be altered to any greater degree than
materials taken from any library shelf. Users normally are not expected to cite in reference lists the date
they borrowed materials from a library or the particular shelf from which they retrieved such materials.
They should not have to do so with articles from IJRCS. Citing this journal as one would cite any other print journal,
without the burden of adding a URL or access date, is encouraged. Each article has on its access page an
example of how to cite it in APA format.
IJRCS on CD: Each issue of IJRCS is available, at a nominal fee for shipping and handling, on compact disc for those who may desire such. Please
contact the Editorial Office for details.
